Whitelines manifesto: Don’t just do it.

You entered this world as a creative genius.
Curious. Playful. Somewhat obstinate.
But over the years society shaped you into an obedient, well-mannered citizen. Your questions became nicer, the decisions safer, and the answers more certain.
We’re here to reverse the trip.
We want to uncage your imagination. And dare we say, make every single person on this planet one percent more creative.
Does this sound a bit naive? If not a little overambitious? We agree. Our vision is easy to criticise, ridicule and whisk off. But we feel it’s a small price to pay in order to encourage your independency and nurture your brainchildren.
It’s not an easy task. It’s a never-ending battle.

Because the world is full to the brim of faceless bureaucrats and greedy bullyboys, waiting to kill your ideas with just a flick of the wrist.
So whatever you do, don’t just do it. Put your heart and soul into it.

Love it.

Hate it.

Turn it up-side-down.

Turn it inside-out.

Bend it.

Brake it.

Shake it.

Torture it.

Blow it up.

Whatever you do, don’t just do it.

Push it forward.

In collaboration with the Anton Grandert we have made this limited edition with intent to let our manifesto blossom. And - off course - inspire you!

The three illustrated quotes are:

"The creative person is both more primitive and more cultivated, more destructive, a lot madder and a lot saner, than the average person."

"I think the world really boils down to two types of people - those who see shapes in cloud formations, and those who just see clouds."

"To fear love is to fear life and those who fear life are already three part dead."

In store now!

Swedish diaries from Whitelines - a longed for premiere!

Finally we have made diaries with our smooth lines to guide you through the day. They are Swedish with a 12 month calendar, either vertical or horizontal days, starting from july. Cover design can be choosed from either Anton Granderts lovely illustration or a clean black cover with an orange band. In Swedish stores in July!

Awesome apps for Whitelines paper

My name is August Schelin, I'm 15 years old and I'm a "trainee" at Whitelines.
I was given the task of finding cool apps that can be used with whitelines. I’ve tried out a number of useful applications that go hand in hand with Whitelines paper and i found two apps which I especially liked; Photogene and Photoforge. These apps leave you with a crisp and clear picture or text that leaves no trace of the lines, perfect for transferring a handwritten or drawn document to your computer.

This is the original picture I edited (tanken with my iPhone).

Editing with Photogene

A simple, yet powerful application that gives you an array of tools to use including, of course, the normal ones like brightness/contrast, levels and saturation. Personally I thought this app was very easy to use and simple but effective.

Steps
· Crop/rotate image as you like.
· Edit exposure (see picture)
· Edit contrast (see picture)
· Adjust levels (see picture)

The result:

Conclusion: This app was very affordable, at only 15 SEK or $1.99, had a user-friendly interface and good tools. In a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being totally pointless and 10 being totally awesome I’d rate this app with a strong 8,1.

Editing with Photoforge

Out of all the photography applications on the appstore this is my personal favourite. It features loads of fun and useful tools and on top of having all the usual stuff it has a great many other tools which makes the whole thing that much more interesting. It might not be as easy to use as Photogene, but the results you can achieve are better and it really isn’t that much harder.

Steps:
· Crop/rotate image
· Reduce noise
· Edit brightness/contrast
· Edit levels/curves (see picture)
· Edit exposure

The result:

Conclusion: As I said previously, this is my favourite app for photography and editing even though it was the one of the most expensive ones at 22 SEK or $2.99, and that is for a number of reasons. One of them is the many functions and tools this app gives you; another is the quality of these features and last but not least the user-interface. On I scale of 1 to 10 I award this app with a great 9,5!
